Safe Motorcycle Hauling

Safe Motorcycle Hauling

Safe Motorcycle Hauling—It’s a Matter of Choice

At highway speeds, towing a poorly designed, improperly loaded trailer is a hair raising, sphincter tightening experience.  Take a look at this U-Haul sponsored video (“Towing a Trailer can be dangerous”)   below, and you’ll see what I mean.

Clearly, properly positioning your trailer’s load with no more than 40% of the load behind the axle is critical to stable towing.  But that’s not all there is to it.

Buying a trailer designed and built with dimensions that make it impossible to load it improperly is a really good starting point.  Take a look at the Aluma Trailers video (“Trailer Weight Design”) below and you’ll see what I mean.

Since motorcycles are always roughly the same shape, length and width, buying a trailer that is impossible to overload to the rear or the front would seem to be a no-brainer.  Check out the motorcycle trailer in the Aluma video and you’ll see one like that.

But so are all three single axle Ironhorse Trailers—you darn near can’t load motorcycles too far to their fronts or their rears.  And that was no accident!  They were designed for SAFE motorcycle hauling from the start.
